DERBY
Saturday and Sunday, March 5 and 6, 2005
YUBA GAP CALIFORNIA
WHAT: The Klondike Derby is a weekend of games and winter sports activities sponsored by the Order of the Arrow. The competition events on Saturday, March 6 include sled racing and building snow shelters - among many others. We will camp in the snow on Saturday night.
WHEN: Meet the clubhouse at 5AM to pack,
load and head out by 5:30 Saturday morning. We
will return to the clubhouse about 2PM on Sunday, March 6
DETAILS: The event will be held at
Sunflower Preserve 161 miles east of San Francisco.
Follow I-80 to the Yuba Gap exit (approximately 37 miles past Auburn), take a right
and follow the signs.
The Klondike Derby goes on regardless of the weather. 
Adults/Parents are also invited to this very outdoor adventure, of course.
BRING/WEAR: Weather reports look very good so far, though it could always change. It will be cold, so dress accordingly be
dry and warm at all times.
Scouts are to wear Class A uniforms and layers, including thermal underwear,
wind/waterproof jacket, ski bibs or powder pants (or other warm, waterproof pants), wool
or ski socks (2-3 pair), warm hat/head covering, warm waterproof gloves, goggles or
sunglasses, lib balm, sunscreen, day pack, change of clothes, warm, waterproof boots,
warm, water resistant sleeping bag.
Pack a lunch for Saturday, and bring $6 for food (dinner and breakfast), bring extra $ for
Sundays lunch on the road, and $4 for gas, bridge toll and any fees.

handbook addendum, as these count towards your Camping Merit Badge and as an outing in
your advancement to First Class.
