SAN FRANCISCO

 

WHAT: On Sunday, January 22, our bike ride will be divided into two different rides.  You can do either one or both.  Ride number 1: We will meet at the boat house at Lake Merced at 10 am and take a 10 mile ride drive, via one loop around Lake Merced, along the Ocean Beach bike path to the Golden Gate Park (GGP) windmill on JFK Blvd.  At the windmill, we will stop, have lunch, and work on some of the basic merit badge requirements including changing a flat tire.  Ride number 2: Those joining us for the 2nd ride will meet us at the Windmill on JFK Blvd at 1pm.  We will ride for 15 miles via the Presidio to the Golden Gate Bridge and back along the Ocean Beach bike path to finish at the boathouse at Lake Merced.  We will be finished by approximately 3:30 – 4pm.

 

WHEN: Ride number 1 -- Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 10 am Lake Merced boathouse

.              Ride number 2 – Sunday, January 22, 2006 at 1 pm. Windmill at GGP

 

WHERE:        Ride number 1 - Meet at the boathouse at Lake Merced

Ride number 2 – Meet at the Windmill on JFK Blvd in GGP

 

DETAILS: You can participate in either or both rides.  After the 10 mile morning ride from Lake Merced to the windmill on JFK Blvd in Golden Gate Park, we will stop for lunch and practice changing tire tubes, to meet one of the merit badge requirements.  Then, beginning at 1pm, we will take the 15 mile ride from the windmill on JFK Blvd in Golden Gate Park to the Presidio, across the Golden Gate Bridge, and then back along the Ocean Beach bike path to finish at the boat house at Lake Merced.   We will be finished by approximately 3:30 – 4pm 

 

BRING/WEAR: 

·        A lunch and some snack

·        Your bike

·        “Troop 88 T-shirt”

·        Your bike helmet

·        A spare tube that fits your bike tire

·        Any bike tools you have that you want to bring

·        A hat or cap

·        Sun block

·        Water

·        Permission slip - attached

 

ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES/ACTIVITIES: We will be working on the requirements of the bicycling merit badge.
