Troop 88 Feed the Fish Derby

Del Valle Regional Park

10/25/03 – 10/26/03

All scouts interested in participating must bring their fishing gear to the Oct. 22nd troop meeting to get set up for the trip, (lets not waste time setting up rods at Dell Valle when we could be fishing!). Plans for the trip, (Cooks, patrols and camping equipment) should be determined and prepared at our Oct. 15 troop meeting.

On Saturday, October 25th, we will meet at the clubhouse at 7:00 am to load our already prepared camping gear into cars and leave by 7:15.

We will go to Del Valle Regional Park located about 9 miles south of Livermore, (about 45 to 50 minutes from San Francisco). Upon arrival, we will go straight to the lake and get started hauling in fish! Fishing is prime at this 750acre lake during the winter months, with regular trout plants from October through May. A fishing license is required for all fishers age 16 and above. Licenses can be purchased at the park entrance for $3. We will be renting one or two patio boats to get to the best fishing spots. After fishing, Sam will demonstrate how fish are properly cleaned and Mr. Larsen will give a presentation on Fishing Merit Badge requirements.

The campsites have restrooms, hot showers, water and picnic tables. We have reserved Campsites #20 and #21 (they are next to each other). There is a maximum of 10 people for each campsite.

Awards will be given out to the scout who catches the largest fish and the scout who catches the most fish. All scouts will have the opportunity to earn the Fishing Merit Badge. Please check the requirements.
