2004 Trip Information Sheet

 

Who:          All registered Scouts/ Ventures and their families  (Siblings can participate only if at least one parent participates.  No other youth except siblings or by special arrangement)

What:         Fun in the snow, with a Merit Badge opportunity

When:        Martin Luther King Jr. Break, Drive up Friday January 16; ski Saturday 1/17, Sunday 1/18, Monday 1/19; drive back Monday 1/19. If you can’t drive up Friday go very early Saturday.

Where:       Skiing @ Donner Ski Ranch http://www.donnerskiranch.com-- Lodging at Summit House condos at Donner Ski Ranch.  http://www.summithouse.com.   Skiing at Sugar bowl by special arrangement.

Cost:          Youth 12 years of age and younger:      $150.00 plus lessons 

                  Others 13 years or older:                     $180.00 plus lessons

                  Non Ski/Snowboarders:                       $125.00

                  Note: Final costs may be a little less than these figures.  Any overpayment will be refunded to you, unless you agree to leave it with the troop as a donation.

Fees Include:   - Transportation
      - Lift tickets (3 days at Donner Ski Ranch)
      - 8 Meals (Sat. Br/Lu/Dn, Sun. Br/Lu/Dn, Mon. Br/Lu)
      - Lodging (We over-occupy the condos, 5or 6 people to a 4 person room)

Meals:        All meals, except those consumed during transport, are included in the fees collected for the trip. Participants can expect to eat one meal going up, and maybe one on the way back.

Transport:  Volunteer drivers from among troop adults.  Drivers will be reimbursed $10.00 per passenger including self to offset expenses - riders will be charged for transport.  Drivers of trucks or vans hauling equipment only will be compensated $50 to offset expenses.  Driver compensation will be calculated at conclusion of trip and reimbursed by check.

Lessons:     Required for all first time skiers, or snow boarders.  Recommended for everyone.  

                  1-1/2 hour group lessons $18 if ordered in advance         [Not included in basic fees]

Equipment: While equipment is available for rental at Donner Ski Ranch, it can take quite some time to be outfitted, unless you arise before dawn.  (youth/adult fees $9/$15 per day for skis/boots/poles $15/$20 per day for snow board/boots) We suggest that you rent equipment in San Francisco.  Your best deal is at Mountain West, 290 Division at 10th and Brannan, 552-7055 http://www.mountainwestonline.com. Deadlines & Limitations:

Non-refundable* deposit of $50.00 per person and completed Reservation Forms are due by December 12, 2003  Based upon responses so far, we have reserved (and paid for) 3 Kitchen/Bedroom units for up to 23 people.   We must have a firm number by December 12.  Money talks.  Please mail the attached Reservation Form with your check or e-mail me the Form and mail or give me the check.  The attached Permission Slip required.  Why  not complete it now and send it with your Reservation Form?

Full is payment due by January 4, 2004 or we may cancel your reservation.   *We will refund your deposit only if and to the extent we are able to cancel room reservations and get our money back.

This form must be completed and given to the adult leader for each activity.

 

I understand that Troop 88, BSA, will provide adequate supervision for this activity and that every reasonable effort will be taken to ensure the safety of the participants.  I agree that the Boy Scouts of America and Troop 88 cannot assume responsibility for accidents or loss of personal property.  I therefore release Troop 88 from any claim that may arise out of this activity and specifically agree not to sue or bring any action against Troop 88.

 

In case of emergency, I understand every reasonable effort will be made to contact me.  In the event I cannot be reached, I hereby agree and give my permission to the physician selected by the adult leader in charge to secure proper emergency treatment, which may include hospitalization, anesthesia, surgery or injections of medication for my son until I release the adult leader from responsibility.
