Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year!

Scouts from the Golden Gate District will be partnering with the Lions to collect glasses for those in need around the world.

Julian and I are going to drive around on Sunday, Feb. 8th, at noon to deliver bags to the neighborhood of Forest Hill and Golden Gate Height next to Forest Hill. We are going to start from the club house at noon until we finish distributing all of the bags or two hours as maximum.

We also have to go back to the same streets to collect the bags on the following Saturday(2/14) at 9:00, then deliver the glasses to St. Anne on Judah St. Lion will provide lunch afterward.

This event qualifies as a service project for advancement toward rank. I have three seats available in my Honda CRV. I have been a good driver for many years. Anyone who wants to join Julian and me to do it, please email me. You don't have to do both days, you can just do one day. Either Feb. 8th or 14th. But you will get a patch if you work both days.

If you have taken bags home, please try to collect Prescription Glasses from your friends, neighbors or relatives. You can bring them back to me in next two meetings (2/4, 2/11)if you cannot join us on 2/8 or 2/14.

Please see the attachment.

Scouts from the Golden Gate District will be partnering with the Lions to collect glasses for those in need around the world.

The Lions in Sight is the Lions International West Coast Used Eyeglass Recycling Center.  They are a non-profit foundation, supported by Lions.  Their major function is to collect used eyeglasses, process them and distribute them to people in need in developing countries in the world as well as local organizations such as "Help the Children", "Flying Samaritans", etc.  The glasses are sorted, cleaned and the prescriptions read by Lions volunteers.

Lions in Sight collected over 1,000,000 pair of glasses last year.  They hope, with our help, to collect more.  The need is so great!
